Punjab Current GK Census 2011

PUNJAB CENSUS 2011

Released by: State Chief Secretary SC Aggarwal and Director (Census) Seema Jain. Provisional census data has been released on only three parameters.

The census was conducted in two phases across 58 lakh households in cities and 12,581 villages across the state.

Facts about Census of Punjab 201

Decade growth declined to 13.7 per cent during 2001-2011, as against 20.1 per cent during 1991-2001.

The decade growth for the state is less than that for India (17.6 per cent).

According to the provisional data, the state’s population touched 27.7 million, somewhat more than the projected figure of 27.6 million for 2011.
2001 census, the population stood at 20.1 million.

Males: 14.6 million.
Females: 13 million.

ex ratio (number of females per thousand males) has risen to 893, as against 876 in the 2001 census.

Punjab Population Density (per sq km) - 550

All the 20 districts have witnessed an increase in sex ratio, with exceptions of Mansa and Bhatinda. For the latter, the ratio has declined to 865, as against 870 in the 2001 census.

Mansa has failed to show any change in the sex ratio, which is the same as that in the previous census (880).

The child sex ratio (0-6 years) has increased by 48 points. From 798 in the last census, it has moved to 846 now.

Nawanshehar (SBS) (879), Jalandhar (874) and Kapurthala (872) have shown the highest increase in child sex ratio.


Tarn Taran has lowest child sex ratio (819).


Literacy has risen to 76 .7 per cent, as against 74 per cent in the 2001 census. Female literacy has moved up by 7.9 percentage points, male literacy has increased by 6.3 points, further narrowing the gap.

Hoshiarpur has the highest literacy at 85.4 per cent, followed by Mohali (84.9)

Muktsar and Mansa are at the bottom with 60 and 56 per cent literacy, respectively.


Ludhiana has emerged as the most populous district with 34.87 lakh persons.

Barnala has the lowest population with only 5.96 lakh people.

The highest growth rate of population has been in Mohali, Patiala and Tarn Taran, districts.

Age : 18 to 37 years as on 01/01/2011,

Pay Scale : 10300/- during Induction period & after that Rs.10300-34800/- + Grade Pay Rs. 3600/-

Qualifications :

i) Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from any Recognized University/Institution

ii) 120 Computer course experience from any 9001 ISCO recognized Institute OR Candidate has passed Computer Information Technology Course equivalent to “O” Level Course from DOEACC

iii) 10th pass as with Punjabi language subject

Recruitment - Excise and Taxation Inspectors Punjab

Recruitment of Excise & Taxation Inspectors (Group C) in the Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab

The Punjab government is going to recruit 160 Tax Inspectors in the pay scale of Rs.5480-160-5800-200-7000-220-8100-275-8925 along with all allowances.

Qualifications: (As on 15.09.2008)

1. Graduate from a recognized university or institution or its equivalent and should have passed Punjabi subject up to Metric standard.

However, in the case of Ex-servicemen, riot victims persons or member of a family of a person killed as a result of terrorist action in the State, the person if selected will have to pass Punjabi of Matriculation standard within six months from the date of joining the service, if they do not possess it already.

2. Candidate should possess at least 120 hours course with working experience in the use of Personal Computers or Information Technology in Office Productivity applications or Desktop Publishing Applications from a Govt. recognized institution or a reputed institution which is ISO 9001 certified.

OR

A computer Information Technology Course equivalent to ‘O’ level certificate of DOEACC of Govt. of India.

CLARIFICATION FROM EXCISE AND TAXATION INSPECTOR PUNJAB

The candidates possessing degrees and diplomas in computer education PGDCA, BCA, B. Sc(IT), B.E, Computer Engineering, IT, B.Tech. which is higher qualification than the requisite qualification, are eligible towards their computer efficiency for the posts of Excise and Taxation Inspectors.

The candidate should possess the above-mentioned qualifications on or before the last date of receipt of applications. Candidates not possessing the essential qualification shall not be considered.

Age Limit:

Candidates should be between 18 to 35 years as on 1.1.2008.

Upper age limit is relax able to the extent of 5 years for Scheduled Castes/Tribes/ Backward Classes and up to 10 years for physically handicapped persons. An Ex-servicemen shall be allowed to deduct the period of his service in the Armed Forces of the Union from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a vacancy according to Govt. instructions, by more than 3 years, he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit. Applicants in Govt. service shall be eligible upto 45 years of age.

Govt. servants must send advance copies of their applications in the prescribed form alongwith requisite fee and copies of certificates by the prescribed date. However, they will be considered for selection only if their applications through proper channel are received or “No Objection Certificate” from the department concerned is furnished at any time before the selection process.

Reservation:

Reservation shall be as per the policy/instructions of the Punjab Government.

Selection Procedure:

Selection will be based on written examination only. There will not be any interview. The merit will be prepared on the basis of this written examination only. The question paper will be provided in English and it will have 150 questions, each carrying one mark, as per the details given below:-

General English 25 questions.
General Knowledge 25 questions.
Mental Ability 50 questions
Mathematical skills (with Metric as the difficulty level) 50 questions.

Examination Centers:

The examination will be conducted in the following Cities :

  1. Chandigarh
  2. Ludhiana
  3. Bathinda
  4. Patiala
  5. Jalandhar
  6. Amritsar

* A candidate can indicate two places of his/her choice in order of preference.

* The examination will be held tentatively in the month of November, 2008.

Fee:

(a) General Category : Rs. 500/-

(b) Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes : Rs. 250/-

(c) All the ex-servicemen of Punjab are exempted from the payment of fee.

The requisite fee should be in the shape of crossed bank draft/pay order/ bankers’ cheque/postal order in favour of Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, payable at Patiala. Candidate should write name and address on the back side of bank draft/pay order/bankers’ cheque/postal order.

How to Apply:

The completed application form should be sent by Registered post/courier/by hand to the Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, Bhupindra Road, Patiala - 147001. The last date for submission of application shall be 15th September, 2008 before 5.00 PM in the office of the Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, Patiala. No application shall be entertained after this date and time. On the top of the envelope, containing the application form, “Application for the post of Excise and Taxation Inspector” should be written in bold letters. The department will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Three recent (not earlier than three months from the date of application) colour passport size photographs with clear front view of the candidate without cap and sunglasses should be sent along with the application form. Two photographs should be pasted on the application form in the space provided. Xerox copy of photographs is not permitted.

Handicapped persons who are suffering from less than 40% of disability shall not be eligible for the posts in handicapped category.
